Off-Guard is a 2 min 3D animated short movie, that I had the privilege to work on, along with a team of dedicated individuals, while at ThinQ. The project was set with certain limitations like the client wanting to convey the message of the story with just one character. The style and production requested was comedy and humor, as this project was an intro for a show that was aimed at kids being the main audience.
This design began with the lead idea being that a late night security guard was the main character, and that it was going to be female for comedic purposes. We choose an older looking woman to enhance the comedic tonality, and explored many variations within that sphere of influence.
Once the design was solidified, I went on to add more details to flesh out the face, and made a model sheet to go with the detailed face explorations.
I also worked on concept art for the backgrounds, prop design, animatics, rough block-in animation and the final render.
